Before joining the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena in 2011 he was a Professor of Marketing and Electronic Retailing at the University of Koblenz (2006-2011) and a Senior Lecturer in Marketing with a British university.
From 2002 to 2004 Gianfranco Walsh was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Hanover's Department of Marketing. After graduating with a B.B.A. in marketing from the University of Applied Science, Lueneburg (now University of Lueneburg) in autumn 1996, Gianfranco Walsh earned an MPhil from Manchester School of Management, now Manchester Business School, in 1998.
He received his Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Hanover in 2001 and his Habilitation degree in 2004. His Ph.D. thesis won two awards for academic excellence given by the Berufsverband Deutscher Markt- und Sozialforscher and Freundeskreis der Universität Hannover. In addition, Gianfranco Walsh actively consults companies in the fields of market research, customer marketing, and E-Commerce.

Christopher Funke studied economics at the University of Jena from 2015 to 2018. His bachelor's thesis "Customer Testimonials in advertising" was recognised by the Alumni Jenenses Association as a particularly application-oriented scientific work.
In 2018, he started his Master's degree at the University of Jena with a focus on Strategy, Management and Marketing. After a semester abroad at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, he successfully completed his Master's degree in 2021.
Parallel to his studies, he has worked as a tutor and scientific assistant at the Chair of General Management and Marketing. Christopher Funke has been supporting Prof. Walsh's chair as a research assistant since April 2021.
From 2011 to 2016 Vivienne Schünemeyer studied Business Administration at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, specializing in Strategy, Management, and Marketing. During her studies she worked as a tutor or scientific assistant on various chairs of Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, among others the Chair of General Management and Marketing.
After her graduation she interned with GfK in the Insights & Consulting-Team, devision Brand and Customer Experience (BaCE) and subsequently she worked in the division BaCE Health. From October 2018 she worked for the market research institute Ipsos GmbH as Junior Research Consultant in devision Healthcare and was responsible for the data analysis and the coordination of country studies.
In January 2019 Vivienne joined the Chair of General Management and Marketing as a Research Associate.
From 2012 to 2018 Jasmin Thiele studied Business Administration at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, specializing in Strategy, Management, and Marketing. During her studies she worked as a tutor for the Chair of General Management and Marketing and as a working student in the field of Corporate and Brand Communications.
After receiving her Master's degree in 2018, Jasmin Thiele worked as a Marketing Recruitment Manager in Jena. In November 2019 Jasmin Thiele joined the Chair of General Management and Marketing as a Research Associate.
